Applying to Graduate School
Dr. Guillermo Caballero of Political Science and Vanice Antrum of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion shared insights with students on the pros and cons of attending graduate school, how to decide where to apply, and how to prepare a successful application.

Political Science faculty analyzed difference aspects of the new Trump administration via faculty presentations and small-group discussions with students and members of the local community.
Interns with the Maryland General Assembly shared their experiences and insights from the 2024 legislative session, including their work with legislators, state officials, lobbyists, and concerned citizens.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s Fulton Public Humanities Program hosted a book talk with Jeong-mi Park, author of The State’s Sexuality: Prostitution and Postcolonial Nation-Building in South Korea. The book explores the complex dynamics of women involved in prostitution in South Korea, highlighting their strategic role in postcolonial nation-building efforts.
Students joined alumni and faculty from the Political Science Department for an informal conversation about life after graduation, careers in their field, and skills that make candidates stand out in the workplace.
Attendees met with representatives from the University of Baltimore School of Law to learn about the application process, including tips for writing personal statements, obtaining letters of recommendation, and more. The event was presented by ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s Political Science Department and the University of Baltimore School of Law.
Jill Morrison, Executive Director of Georgetown Law’s Women’s Law & Public Policy Fellowship Program and the Leadership & Advocacy for Women in Africa Program, discussed reproductive justice and the impact of Roe v. Wade’s reversal, particularly in states with laws eliminating abortion access. She addressed what it means to be pregnant, give birth, and raise children by state force or coercion, especially in light of considerable systemic racial discrimination and the lack of support for healthy families.

Finding and Applying for Jobs 
Dr. Greg Cashman, Professor Emeritus of Political Science, and Todd Becker, Professor of Political Science and Conflict Analysis & Dispute Resolution, explored the precarious balance between war and peace in Europe in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Maryland's elected officials debated these and other hot topics during the 2019 General Assembly session. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø political science students participated as legislative interns, working closely with legislators, state officials, lobbyists, and concerned citizens. The students shared their experiences and insights from the session.
